Reported: Teleport scrolls to Jetso Island and Ancient Elven Land send the player to HQ (and on Golden Age too), the HQ portals to the level 51-65 zones answer "map index error", and the MAU does too little damage, cannot buy extra ammunition, and changes parts without taking money.
Found: The server knew 37 of the 4.55 client's 110 maps. Ancient Elven Land is Cora2, which the server did not have, and Jetso Island is one of six maps that existed but were not registered. A scroll whose destination did not resolve fell back to HQ and was used up anyway.
The HQ portal lists in 4.55 are longer than the ones the server had. The doors to the level 51-55, 56-60 and 61-65 zones and the 66-70 zone sat past the end of the server's list, which is what the client reports as "map index error".
MAU swings rolled the pilot's own hand weapon and ignored the MAU's arm and its ammunition. Part changes and magazine refills never charged a price or checked the level and mastery limits, and spare magazines could not be bought because the server refused every request for them. The level 71-80 MAU parts also carried placeholder values (level limit, mastery, icon, price) where the client has real ones.
While checking MAU damage we found that no player or MAU attack on a monster used the original damage rules: monster defence, monster blocks, mastery and talik upgrades were all missing, and critical hits used a chance of our own.
Fix: The server now has all 110 maps of the 4.55 client, with every map's portal list in the client's order, including the HQ doors to the level 51-70 zones with the client's level limits. Every teleport scroll now reaches its own destination. A scroll whose destination cannot be resolved is now refused and kept instead of sending the player to HQ. On Golden Age the same refusal applies, and the Medicallab portal to Medicallab2 and the portals out of Medicallab2 now work.
MAU part changes charge the part's price and check its level and mastery limits, magazine refills charge their price, and spare magazines can be bought into the back pack. The newest MAU parts now carry the client's values. The MAU purchase fixes also apply to Golden Age and Age of Patron.
Attacks on monsters now follow the original rules: melee, skills, forces, siege weapons and the MAU all go through the monster's own defence, weapon mastery counts, and critical hits follow the original roll against the monster's resistance. A MAU hit is now its arm's attack with the loaded ammunition and the driver's unit mastery. Talik upgrades now take effect on equipped weapons and armour, including jades, and a talik's defence and evasion bonus fades as the armour's durability drops. This ships in the next rf455 update.
Also affected: Damage on monsters changes for every character, not only MAU drivers. An unupgraded weapon now takes noticeably more hits on a same-level monster than before, and attack taliks make a large difference: on a typical level 50 monster, a level 50 weapon with five attack taliks needs about half the hits it needs with none.
The new maps have no town zones, NPCs or start points yet, so their race areas are not safe zones. The channel copies of each map exist for portals but carry no monsters.
To verify:
- Use an Ancient Elven Land scroll and a Jetso Island scroll: each should land on its own map, not at HQ.
- At HQ, take the doors to the level 51-55, 56-60, 61-65 and 66-70 zones with a character in range: each should load the zone.
- At the MAU NPC, change a part: the price should be taken from your money, and a part above your level should be refused.
- Refill a magazine and buy spare magazines with a back pack fitted: the money should go down and the rounds should appear.
- Attack a level 50 monster with a level 70+ MAU: it should die in one or two hits.
- Attack the same kind of monster with a weapon before and after adding attack taliks: the number of hits should drop.
