How xp works

Everything you do here earns xp, and xp makes your level. This is the whole table: nothing earns xp that is not on it.

Bug hunting

Bug reports filed
Every report you file, duplicates included. A report closed as spam earns nothing.

Bugs fixed and released
Once per bug, to whoever reported it first, when the fix ships in a public release.

Others who hit your bug
For each other member who reports a bug you reported first, up to 5 per bug.

Ideas released
When an idea you proposed ships. Duplicates of it earn their proposers a changelog credit, not xp.

For each up-vote your idea had at the moment it shipped.

Each thread you start and each reply you post.

A comment on a bug, a release or a profile wall.

Each day you are on the site while signed in.

Bonus for 7 visit days in one calendar month. Missed days do not reset it.

Bonus for 28 visit days in one calendar month.

XP is worked out from what is on the site now, so deleting a post or having a chat line removed takes its xp with it.
A duplicate report earns its filer the ordinary point, and its first reporter one more, up to 5 per bug. The release bonus goes to the first reporter only.
A check-in is any day you load a page while signed in, counted in your own time zone. The monthly bonuses count days in the calendar month, so a missed day costs nothing but that day.
An idea's release bonus counts the up-votes it had at the moment it was marked released.
The automated account levels like anybody but never appears on a leaderboard.
