Player Versus Player, Arenas And Guild War, Job Awakening, Server Control Panel

Released 30 September 2026

Player versus player combat, the tournament and practice arenas, guild war, job awakening and a fuller control panel.

Features

  • GTHC-075: Player versus player combat. Players can damage each other in open-world PK, duels, the arenas and guild battles, and chaos points now carry consequences.
  • GTHC-003, GTHC-041, GTHC-081: Tournament arena. Brackets, betting, the match clock and prizes, with the arena windows shown in the Classic interface.
  • GTHC-060: Practice arena. One-on-one duels with a level band, win/draw/loss records and an item and coin wager paid to the winner.
  • GTHC-085: Guild war. Challenge another guild, fight on the scoreboard, plunder and collect the rewards.
  • Dan battle. The guild-versus-guild arena on its own map, ending on the clock or on a wipe, with draws.
  • GTHC-074: Job awakening. All fourteen jobs can be reached through their quests, and an awakened job stays after you log out.
  • GTHC-036: World chat. Messages sent to world chat reach every player.
  • Helper system. Pair a new player with a mentor, and the pairing and points survive a restart.
  • Lucky stones and the gamble store. Monsters drop lucky stones that buy items from the gamble store.
  • GTHC-073, GTHC-090: Quest scroll shop and auto-quest scrolls. The shop sells, and a scroll starts the quest it names.
  • World change item and experience events. The world change item works, and game masters can run experience-rate events.
  • Item expiry. Timed items run out when their time is up.
  • Control panel moderation, news and support. Staff can ban, unban, disconnect and force a password reset from the browser, and publish news.
  • Server settings from the panel. Rates, the practice arena, guild battles and the world map can be changed without editing data files or restarting.
  • oldschoolops.com sign-in. An operator can let players log in with their oldschoolops.com account.
  • First administrator. A new server prints a one-time password that creates the first Super Administrator.

Improvements

  • GTHC-006: Mouse-only controls. Movement is click to move, as in the original; keyboard movement and tab targeting are gone.
  • One server process. Login and the game run in one program, and the client connects to one address without a server-select screen.
  • Loading screen. The client shows a window with its progress straight away instead of nothing for half a minute.
  • GTHC-012: NPC conversations. All twelve script actions that used to close the dialog and do nothing now work.
  • GTHC-086, GTHC-087: Skill learning. The skill window's requirements are enforced, and gen capability is awarded on the authored curve.
  • GTHC-084: Bow emote. Other players see you bow.
  • Bans. A banned account is refused at every login, and a ban ends the session already in progress.
  • Development server notice. Entering the world says that GM commands are open to everyone on this server.

Fixes

  • GTHC-016: Post office postage. Mailing coins created them out of nothing instead of charging the sender.
  • GTHC-020: Item option bonuses. Most options did nothing and some granted the wrong stat; they now match the tooltip.
  • GTHC-022: Craft and upgrade. Both stalled after the materials were placed and now complete.
  • GTHC-076: Party chat and the party window. Party chat was dropped and the party window did not come back after a relog.
  • GTHC-080: Guild names and emblems. They never showed over players and now do.
  • GTHC-078, GTHC-079: Quest rewards. Coin rewards were paid as experience, and a full inventory did not stop a quest from completing.
  • GTHC-029, GTHC-030, GTHC-031, GTHC-033: Chat bans. A mute silenced only world chat, never ran out, told the player nothing and ended at relog.
  • GTHC-026, GTHC-027: Silent refusals. Whispering an unknown name and casting a refused skill now say why.
  • GTHC-045: Appearance changes. A skin change is kept after logout.
  • GTHC-034: Stack use. Using a stackable item takes one from the stack the same way the client shows it.
  • GTHC-104, GTHC-105: Magic book and e-pack recharge. The magic book reported success as failure, and recharge failures all showed one generic message.
  • GTHC-106: Seasonal snow. Turning the season off made it snow.
  • GTHC-054: Alt-tab. The client survives losing its display device.
  • GTHC-058: Unreachable server. The client exits with a logged reason instead of waiting on a dialog nobody can see.
  • GTHC-002: Launcher updates. A Classic install no longer turns itself into a Gate to Heavens install after a launcher update.
  • Loading hang. A launcher login could hang on the loading screen and then disconnect.
  • Dead characters. A dead character could still be walked around the world.
