Old SchoolOps

RF Online

A sci-fi MMO where three races fight over one mine: Bellato mechs, Cora magic and Accretia gunmetal. Each episode is its own server and its own client.

Which Version Should I Play?

RF Online changed a lot across its life, and each version here is its own game rather than a patch of the one before it. Each needs its own client, and a client from one version cannot talk to a server from another. Choosing a version goes through them in detail.

  • Version 1.0.5 is the oldest client here, a Korean build dated December 2004 from before the versions were numbered. Our server for it is a first prototype: you can make a character, walk around, fight and talk, and a lot of what came later is not there.
  • Giga 4 Part 2 is the last version before the cash shop arrived, and the one we host. Level cap 55.
  • Red Army (2.1.5) opens Beast Mountain and Outcast Land, gives the Archon real authority over a race, and adds the Red MAU and Siege Kit. Level cap 55.
  • Secret of Holystone (2.1.6) follows Red Army with the Blue units, Kartella Bio Lab, PvP points and the Superior armour line. Level cap 55.
  • Golden Age (2.2.3.2) is the one most people mean by RF Online: Gold Points, three battle dungeons and the Bio Lab second basement, at level cap 65.
  • Age of Patron (4.15) is not another episode but one update rolled out across every RF service after 2.2.3.2: level cap 80, four maps including Novajan and Caravan, the High Gold MAU, daily quests, and the pass that finally added quest markers and auto-tab targeting. There is no release to download for it yet.
  • 1.5 is the odd one out: a 2011 relaunch that rebuilt the interface and went its own way, rather than a step in the line above. It speaks to the GamesCampus 1.5b client and nothing else.

They all run on the same framework, so the setup, the config file and the launcher are identical. Only the client differs.

Not an episode but a reworking: a 2011 relaunch that rebuilt the interface and added systems the other versions never had, under a version number that went down while the game went forward. It was shut down, and it is the one RF here almost nobody played. The client it speaks to is the GamesCampus 1.5b build.

RF Online 4.55

Version 4.55 (Taiwan)

Dev v0.1.0

The last Taiwan build of the 4.x line: a far bigger store, eleven more maps, and item collections.

Setting a server up is the same for every game we develop, and those pages are written once. Each version then has its own space for what only applies there.
