The client it talks to
Every server here is built against one game client and only that one. A client from a neighbouring version does not half-work: the two disagree on the first message and it fails at the login screen.

The installer is signed by CCR INC and its signature verifies, but what it installs is the 2018 build (10,863,104 bytes), not the one above. To get the 2023-01-02 build this server is conformed to, run the client's own RF.exe once after installing and let it download. EXPECT IT TO FAIL AT THE END - RedFox closed the game in February 2023 and its game servers are gone, so the patcher finishes its downloads and then errors when it cannot reach them. That error is normal and does not mean the patch failed. The file download still works: we have taken the same 2023-01-02 binary through it twice, three days apart, and it came back byte-identical both times. Ignore the error and check the file - if your RF_Online.bin matches the SHA-256 above, you have exactly the client this was built against.
Check the hash before you report anything. Several retail builds share a
version number and disagree with each other, so the number alone does not identify one
file.
