The map view is a free-flying camera, like walking around the map in the game with no walls.
Flying
| control | does |
|---|---|
| right-drag | look around |
| right-drag and W, A, S, D, Q, E | fly; hold Shift to go faster |
| mouse wheel while right-dragging | change the fly speed |
| mouse wheel | move toward the point under the mouse |
| middle-drag | pan |
| Alt + left-drag | orbit around the selection |
| arrow keys, Page Up, Page Down | fly without the mouse |
| F | frame the selection, or the whole map when nothing is selected |
Fly speed on the Layers panel sets how fast the keys move you.
The top view
Top in the toolbar, or T, switches to a top-down view of the map without perspective. It is the easiest way to place spawns and regions and to paint grid cells. In the top view the right and middle buttons both pan and the wheel zooms. Fly, or T again, goes back.
Studio remembers which view you used last and opens the next map in it.
Saved views
Ctrl + 1 to Ctrl + 9 save where the camera is into a slot, and 1 to 9 fly back to it. The Saved views list on the Tools panel names them and keeps more than nine. Views belong to the map, so each map has its own.
Where am I?
The status bar shows the map coordinates of the ground under the mouse. Measure (M) on the Tools panel gives the distance between two points. See Brushes, prefabs and the Tools panel.
