The selected objects get a handle. Pick which one in the toolbar above the map.
The handles
- Move (W): drag an arrow to move along that axis, or the square to move across the ground. Dragging the object itself also moves it across the ground.
- Rotate (E): drag the ring to turn the selection. Hold Ctrl to turn in 15° steps.
- Scale (R): drag an axis or the centre square. On a region or portal this resizes its box; on a spawn it changes the radius.
With Snap to ground on (G toggles it), anything you move stays on the floor beneath it. Every drag is one step to undo. Press Esc during a drag to put everything back.
World, grid and turn steps
The bar at the top left of the map sets how the handles behave:
- World or Local (X toggles it): the arrows follow the map's axes, or the selected object's own, so a turned building moves along its own front.
- Grid: moving puts the selection's centre on the grid, keeping the objects' spacing; along a local arrow it moves in whole grid steps. The barrier tool uses the same grid.
- Turn: rotating snaps to 15°, 45° or 90° steps. With Turn free, Ctrl still snaps to 15°.
Points
Walls, paths and spawns with several spawn points have points. Select the object, then:
- drag a point to move it;
- click a point in the inspector's list to select it;
- press Insert to add a point under the mouse after the selected one;
- press Delete to remove the selected point.
Duplicate and delete
Ctrl + D duplicates the selection and Delete removes it.
Arranging
With several objects selected, the inspector's Arrange section lines them up and spaces them out:
- Align X, Align Y and Align Z move them all to the lowest, middle or highest value on that axis, as chosen above the buttons.
- Space out X and Space out Y (three or more objects) leave the two outermost where they are and spread the rest evenly between them.
- Randomize turns each one and gives it a new size at random, within the prop brush's settings on the Tools panel, so a row of copied trees stops looking copied.
- Drop to ground puts each one on the floor beneath it.
Each of these is one step to undo.
Copy and paste
Ctrl + C copies the selection and Ctrl + V pastes it where the mouse is pointing, or beside the originals when the mouse is not over the map. The copy keeps working after you open another map, another project, or another Studio window on the same game, so you can move a camp or a row of props from one map to another.
Every pasted object is built new for the map it lands on, with its own ids. Anything the game cannot add there, such as a prop model the other client does not ship, is left out and named in the message.
