Almost everything on a map starts with selecting it.
On the map
- Click an object to select it. Shift + click adds to the selection and Ctrl + click toggles.
- Drag a box over empty ground to select everything in it.
- Ctrl + A selects every visible object; Esc clears the selection.
Only objects whose layer is showing can be selected. See Layers and animation.
The Objects panel
The Objects panel lists every visible object with a search box that matches names, kinds, ids and models. Each row shows the object's kind and id, and a tag saying whether it lives in the client files or the server data. Click a row to select it and fly to it; Ctrl + click adds or removes it.
Selecting alike
With an object selected, All like this in the inspector (Ctrl + Shift + A) selects every object of the same kind and model: every crate, every spawn of one monster. Like this in view takes only those on screen. Change them all at once in the inspector.
Client and server objects
Each object is marked as a client file or server data object, by colour in the Objects panel and with a tag in the inspector. Server objects come from the linked server folder; see Linking a server.
What selecting shows
The inspector shows the selection. With one object selected you see all its settings; with several of the same kind, a setting you change applies to all of them. See The inspector and grid painting.
